Emma joined the firm in January 2023 and is part of the Wills, Trusts and Succession Department based in Southampton (Bitterne). Her current work includes preparing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney and the administration of both simple and complex estates.
Qualifications and Professional memberships
- Admitted as a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in 2013
- Advanced certificates from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) in Administration of Estates and the Administration of Trusts
Experience and Expertise
- Over 20 years of legal experience, initially in residential conveyancing but from 2008, in respect of all aspects of Wills, trusts and estate administration work
- Advising clients on Wills, both simple and complex, estate and tax planning, trusts, probate, and intestate estates
- Advising and assisting in relation to all aspects of estate administration, from the registration of death, to the obtaining of a grant of representation (with or without a Will having been left), and the distribution of assets as between beneficiaries
- Post death tax planning with Deeds of Variations
- Assisting clients regarding all aspects of non-contentious applications to the Court of Protection
- Advising in relation to all aspects of preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Registering Enduring Powers of Attorney when a donor has lost mental capacity
- Preparation of General Powers of Attorney
