We are seeking a Legal Assistant (Employment) to join our team in either our Hedge End or Winchester office.

Job Description

  • Provide efficient administrative & secretarial support to the Fee Earner(s).
  • Consistently provide clients with an excellent, professional and friendly service, via all channels of communication in accordance with the Firm’s policies, values, and quality standards
  • Undertake all necessary typing and dictation ensuring all work is accurate.
  • Ensure all filing systems are well organised and comply with office procedures
  • Complete and file work produced in a timely manner and maintain up-to-date records on files which reflect status of the matter and action taken to date
  • Carry out work on files and progress client matters undertaking work that is considered by the Fee Earner(s) to be within the ability of the Assistant
  • Manage own diary and that of the Fee Earner(s) & diarise key dates
  • Book client appointments ensuring that relevant client / matter information is obtained and provided to the Fee Earner(s)
  • Ensure monetary transactions are dealt with efficiently
  • Observe confidentiality in all matters both internal and external, awareness of data protection
  • Undertake all necessary training appropriate to the job or qualifications held and assist in the training of others as and when required

Person Specification/Skills

We are looking for a Legal Assistant to join our friendly Conveyancing team in our Chandlers Ford. The role involves providing support to 1 or more Conveyancing fee earners in a busy high street office, so good organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise work is essential. Previous Conveyancing Legal Assistant experience is required.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also important as candidates will be required to communicate regularly and professionally with clients and stakeholders. Proven experience in accuracy and attention to detail is important as the role will involve completion of legal documents and the use of our online case management systems. There will be some requirement for general administration and receptionist duties also.

Key Skills Required:

  • Good working knowledge of Conveyancing legal work, ideally with prior experience of HMRC, Land Registry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to prioritise work and confidence to work within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Enjoys working independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptable attitude to work
  • IT literate in Excel and Outlook

Working Pattern:

The role is permanent and full-time 9am to 5pm (35 hours / 5 days per week), although part-time hours would be considered. No weekend working.
