Do I need different employment contracts for different employees?
This will depend on what is required for the business. For example, more senior employees may need different contracts compared to junior employees based on their roles and responsibilities.
How often should employment contracts be reviewed and updated?
It is generally recommended that employment contracts are reviewed fairly regularly, usually every couple of years or so. If there are changes in legislation, it will need to be done in line with these updates.
What are my options if an employee disputes the terms of their employment contract?
They should be given an opportunity to negotiate on some aspects of their contract, however, if it is a legal requirement, this needs to be explained. We always recommend seeking legal advice if there is a dispute so that you are aware of all the options available to you.
What should I do if an employee breaches their employment contract?
Depending on the severity of the breach and its effect on others and the business, you may wish to deal with the breach informally or through disciplinary procedures. Additionally, for more serious breaches, legal redress can be sought through the courts.
What should I do if I need to change the terms of an employment contract?
If you wish to make changes to an existing contract, you will need to discuss and negotiate this with the employee in question, as both must be in agreement with the amendments.
