Barbara joined the firm in May 2020 as a Senior Executive in the Wills, Trusts & Succession Department. She specialises in Estate Administration and advising in relation to the preparation and management of trusts, Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney. Barbara enjoys the interaction with her clients and achieving their objectives.
Qualifications and Professional Memberships
- Diploma in Bookkeeping – 1991
- Diploma in Estate and Trust Administration – 1998
- Qualification as an Estate and Trust Administrator by the Association of Trust Companies (South Africa) – 1999
- Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners STEP (UK) – 2005
- STEP Diploma in Trust and Estate Administration – 2007
Experience and Expertise
- Worked as an Examiner in Department of Justice, Master of the Supreme Court, South Africa, regulating the administration of deceased estates, trusts, insolvencies and curatorships
- Administered deceased estates in South Africa for 21 years
- Over 19 years’ experience of the law of England and Wales
- Advising in relation to all aspects of estate administration including where there is a Will and where there is not
- Advising as to, all aspects of trust administration
- Advising and preparing Deeds of Variation
- Preparation of all type of Wills, including those containing Will Trusts
- Advising as to and preparation Declarations of Trust for home buyers, and others
- Court of Protection applications
- Advising and assisting in relation to Powers of Attorney
- Barbara is fluent in Afrikaans
