New Charitable Partnership for Eric

The staff at Eric Robinson Solicitors have voted local charity, Abby’s Heroes to become its official partner charity for 2019/20.

The nine office firm asked its 120 employees to nominate, and then vote, for a charity who they would like to support through fundraising and awareness raising initiatives.  There were many suggestions of local and national charities to support, but after the majority has spoken, Abby’s Heroes were announced as the favourite.

The aim of the charity is to help and support children and their families who come under the care of the Piam Brown, and the Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) wards in Southampton General Hospital.

The charity’s catchment covers the same area as Eric Robinson’s offices across the south of England.  The ward is a centre of excellence for children’s oncology, and the aim to offer financial and practical help and importantly, the opportunity to make lasting memories for the children, young adults and their families.

Teresa Campone, who has worked at Eric Robinson Solicitors since 2016, is particularly delighted with the Firm’s choice of charity.  “I have been canvassing for Abby’s Heroes to become the firm’s charity since I joined the firm!  I have been friends with Abby’s mum, Sally, for many years, so have a personal connection with the charity and am also a volunteer treasurer and trustee myself. I am so proud of the work Sally and the charity do.

Abby’s Heroes helps families whose children are receiving treatment on the ward, and who are unable to work as they have to stay with them, or look after them once they are home.  We also give £200 to children who have finished their treatment as a reward/gift to do something nice with.  When they have finished their months, and sometimes, years’ worth of treatment there is a ceremony on the ward where everything stops and the children get to ring a bell.  It’s such a lovely thing.”

The staff at Eric Robinson have many ideas for fundraising initiatives throughout the year, but kicked this year off with participants in the Southampton 10k and half marathon on 6th May.  Later in the year employees will take part in the charity’s abseil down the Spinnaker Tower and have a team taking part in the Winchester Half Marathon, which the firm are also sponsoring again for the third year.

Sally Randall, chief executive of Abby’s Heroes, said: “On behalf of Abby’s Heroes and all the families we support, I would like to thank all your staff for both nominating and then supporting us to become officially, Eric Robinson’s Charity of the Year. Being associated with a major South Coast Legal Company such as yourselves,  is an absolute honour, and we are really looking forward to working alongside you for the next year.”
